At PAVE, we believe our DC education system must be built BY and WITH families, not for them. That’s why for the past six years a network of over 5,000 primarily Black and Brown PAVE parent leaders created a movement for #ParentPower, pushing on the system and its leaders to center the voices of families - who are the heart of DC.
Our deep belief in the power and promise of parent voice drives all we do: from parent leaders’ powerful advocacy for their #ParentPriorities which has already made an impact this year, to their monumental 2020 #Vote4DCKids campaign which resulted in significant voter turnout in the primary and expanded the electorate, and so much more!
PAVE parent leaders set the agenda for all of PAVE’s advocacy. What education issues are important to you? Tell us in the Parent Policy Summit Issue Survey!
Read more about past Parent Policy Summits on our website!
In this survey, DC parents, grandparents, and caregivers will choose five issues - one for each of PAVE’s core values as an organization. After all surveys are counted, the top issue for each value will be included on the Parent Policy Summit ballot.
At the Summit on June 11, parent leaders from across DC will come together to learn more about the five issues on the ballot, hear each other’s stories, and then vote for their top TWO priorities. These two winning priorities will be the focus of parent leaders’ policy agenda in the upcoming school year.
The Summit Issue Survey takes less than 5 MINUTES and will help lead to long-lasting change!
Now more than ever, we see the importance of strong leaders who understand and listen to the needs of families and communities - who will take bold steps to build the education system YOU want to see.
Good news! You can demonstrate the power of your voicethrough your vote! Parent leaders are excited to cast their ballots for a DC that does right by our children. We invite you to join them and commit to making your voice HEARD!
