A little wind didn’t stop the #PurpleWave on Election Day, as PAVE parent leaders and staff showed up energized and passionate at polls across DC! Vote Centers in Wards 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 were filled with #ParentPower, as DC voters had the opportunity to learn about PAVE, our 2022-2023 #ParentPriorities, and continued commitment to #Vote4DCKids!
Over the course of the day, 246 DC residents joined the movement, and committed to voting for leaders who center DC kids, families, and schools in their decisions!
Why we #Vote4DCKids
We want our elected officials to make decisions on education that put families and children FIRST, particularly those who are Black, Brown, or low-income.
The #Vote4DCKids campaign focuses on educating DC residents on ways they can make their voices heard each election season. This means sharing information on:
Note: PAVE, as a 501c3, does not endorse any candidates.
Because of the effort, time, and dedication of PAVE parent leaders, nearly 600 DC voters committed to cast their ballot to #Vote4DCKids this general election cycle.
Last week’s election results remind us of the power and importance of exercising our RIGHT to vote. The winners include Mayor Muriel Bowser, who was elected to her third term, and new and returning members to the DC Council and State Board of Education (SBOE). All newly elected members will assume office on January 3, 2023.

A look ahead
PAVE parent leaders look forward to continuing to work in partnership with policymakers and elected officials to develop a diversity of safe, nurturing, and GREAT schools for every child, in every ward, and community.
As we enter the holiday season, PAVE parent leaders will continue building their informational knowledge and policy expertise, as well as craft their Statement of Beliefs. Come January, PAVE will host our annual DC Parent Voice and Choice Week (DCPVCW)! This week-long event creates a space for parent leaders from across DC to meet with their elected officials to ask questions, share their stories, and advocate for THEIR #ParentPriorities.
