#ICYMI: Read parent leaders' Statements of Beliefs

Last week, PAVE released the policy solutions parent leaders identified for their top TWO #ParentPriorities of 2022-2023: Out-of-School Time (OST) Programs and School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) Supports!

After months spent building their policy expertise and brainstorming solutions, PLE Board members crafted these statements with the insights of 505 DC parents via OST and SBMH Parent Survey results, focus groups, house and community partner meetings, as well as 1:1s.

New to the PAVE Blog

Check out two new PAVE blog pieces from parent leaders who are sharing their perspectives  on the critical importance of increased SBMH resources and OST programming throughout the District! Their powerful words serve as a reminder to systems leaders that  parents and families should ALWAYS have a seat at the table when education policy decisions are made.

Countdown to DCPVCW!

We are now just 10 days away from PAVE’s seventh annual DC Parent Voice and Choice Week (DCPVCW) kicking off!

Over the course of the past week, Ward-based PLE Board members came together to continue planning and strategizing for when the #PurpleWave heads to the John A. Wilson Building!

Beginning January 23rd, parent leaders will chair meetings with DC’s elected leaders and policymakers, ask questions, and share their stories and perspectives - including their Statements of Beliefs on OST programs and SBMH!

We are looking forward to our scheduled meetings with Mayor Muriel Bowser, Deputy Mayor for Education Paul Kihn, Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services Wayne Turnage, and ALL DC Councilmembers!
